Website Design Process

An Overview…

A custom author website is an extension of your book and, if applicable, you and your services. The design is derived from the visual look and feel of your book and includes the following pages and content:

  • Home page with a 3D image of your book, description, and link to purchase
  • About the Author
  • Read a Free Chapter (optional). This functionality can be coordinated with MailChimp to help build your community
  • Contact the Author
  • Blog functionality (optional)
  • Exclusive content only available via a link in the book or eBook
  • Additional pages as needed
  • Links to social sites

Whether or not we designed your book cover, the process is quite simple and easy. 

Planning Your Website

We start off with a Zoom call where we discuss your needs, wants, and expectations for your website. And, we’ll explain the process in detail and let you know what we need from you to get started (not too much, actually).

Design Begins

All the back-end configuration and setup of your website, including hosting, domains, etc., is handled by us, and you never need to delve into the world of DNS, SSL, or any other website jargon. Once those elements are in place, we start on the design. Once done, we’ll send you a link so you can take a look at your website for the first time. 

Review and Revise

After your review of the website, you’ll provide your comments, changes, etc. We will work together via Zoom to tweak and revise the site until you have a website you love.

A Live Website and Training

The final step in the website design process is finalizing the links and other functionality and making the website live on your domain. Then, via Zoom, we show you the ins and outs of your WordPress site (how to make updates and maintain it) and record the session so you can go back and watch any time.

Author Website Pricing

Full-Featured Standard Author Website: $1,500

The design of the site is completely customized to your book and your author brand and includes:

  • Custom design, including all needed stock images and custom images
  • Configuration of selected website host and redirect of domains not attached to the website
  • Up to 5 unique sections of content such as book image and description, about the author, read a chapter, reviews, and contact form
  • Optimization of the website for mobile views
  • Inclusion of MailChimp functionality for chapter read and setup of MailChimp email template
  • Inclusion of social media links
  • Buy now links connected to all selling platforms
  • Meta Tags and Description and Image Alt Tags
  • Inclusion of Google SiteKit for analytics
  • Training for making changes and posting blogs (if applicable)

Website design prices do NOT include website hosting fees or domain registration fees. These fees are the responsibility of the author/client.
