How We’ll Work Together
Your self-publishing journey begins with our introductory call, where we get to know you, your book, and your vision. From there, we start building the framework for your book’s success.
We’ll meet regularly throughout the process, beginning with a deeper dive into your goals and dreams for your book. Together, we’ll refine your plan, set timelines and expectations, and outline the next steps.
Once the framework is in place, we begin assembling your publishing team — starting with editing. As editing moves forward, we’ll prepare the path to publication: pre-launch marketing, account setup, review planning, and distribution strategy. Each step is carefully guided so you always know where you are in the process and what’s coming next.
The Creative Phase & Beyond
Here’s where the creative process comes to life. You’ll work directly with Victoria on your cover, and once editing is complete, we’ll move into interior design and eBook formatting.
When your book is fully designed, we’ll prepare it for publication: uploading to your platforms, finalizing marketing tasks, and putting launch strategies into motion.
Then comes the big moment—launch day. With planning and preparation in place, you’ll have the confidence and support to make your debut a success.
But your publishing journey doesn’t end there. For 90 days post-launch, we continue working with you, supporting your marketing efforts through social media promotion, reader outreach, review planning, and opportunities like podcasts and signings. Together, we’ll build the momentum your book needs to find its audience and thrive.

Some Fine Print…
- We love to work on the entire book, cover, interior, and eBook, and our pricing reflects this. However, if you are interested in only one or two design services or just our publishing services, please contact us for a quote.
- All the packages above are based on a 60k-word manuscript with subheads (two levels), bullets, and a table of contents. Additional fees may apply for more complex interiors.
- We can customize all packages to meet your specific needs.
- In any capacity you work with us, all rights and royalties for your book project remain with you, the author. We set up all accounts in your name, and you retain sole ownership.
- Editing is not included in any of our pricing or packages. We can, however, connect you with editors we have vetted and work with regularly.
- When we refer to cover design concepts, we mean fully realized covers, not sketches or mock-ups. Typically, we provide 3-5 cover concepts for nonfiction and 2-3 for fiction. Because we are intuitive designers, we let the design guide us; sometimes, it says more, and sometimes, it says less. For fiction, we typically have a more distinct direction, and the concepts you choose from are more focused, with multiple layers of detail.
- We subscribe to three stock image sites and use them for all images on our covers. We may use only one or two images for some covers, and for some, we can use five or more. Any stock images not originating from our subscription sites may incur additional charges. WDM holds the license for all images.
- If you change the concept direction entirely after the initial round of cover concepts, we may charge extra to create alternative concepts.
